Ringing Ears Wax

Our ears typically have ear wax and it is nothing that should worry you.  Any healthy individual has ear wax and it has serves as our protection from dust, bacteria and insects.  Our earwax is produced by the glands in our ear canal and believe it or not, we do not actually need to remove it since it just naturally gets removed from the ears while we sleep. Our jaw movements also help in removal of ear wax.  Now why then can earwax cause ringing ears?  Wax in the ears that hardens or gets impacted can bring problems like tinnitus.

Lizzie was curious why the ENT told her that she has too much earwax in her ears and was eventually pointed as the reason for her ringing ears.  Wax in the ears eventually gets impacted when we try to clean our ears the wrong way.  In the case of Lizzie, the uses q-tips to clean her ears daily.  After her morning shower, it has become her daily routine to clean her ears with q-tips.  Cleaning with q-tips is fine, according to her ENT, as long as she only uses it to clean her outer ears.

Lizzie made a big mistake by using the q-tips digging into her ear canal trying to remove her earwax.  She was actually pushing more earwax deep down further her inner ears, making it difficult for the earwax to be removed normally.  Eventually she was beginning to feel uncomfortable and started feeling pain and a ringing in the ears.

It was good that Lizzie had her earwax removed by a specialist.  If she did not have it removed, she could most probably be having balance problems and even hearing problems.  It is definitely a good idea to have the wax removed way before you start having the mentioned symptoms.

Aside from the ringing in the ears, an ear infection may also develop from ear wax accumulation.  It is said that a diet that contains high omega 3 fatty acids helps in allaying such problem.  On the other hand, a diet rich in dairy products is said to produce more earwax.

If you really want to make sure that your ear wax does not get accumulated and eventually impacted, do what as Lizzie did.  Go to your ENT and have your ear wax removed.  This saves you from the possibility of developing ringing ears.  Wax in the ears is good, but too much of it is definitely unpleasant – take note of that.
